Demon Behind the Glass is a supernatural horror that has reams of potential, but unfortunately never truly reaches the heights it could. The film follows the story of Jonathan; a disgraced journalist. He's initially chasing a story about fracking, but quickly turns into pursuing a story about demons after finding a dead body in his bathroom.

It starts off strong and while I enjoy films that get off to a quick start, Demon Behind the Glass gives too much too soon, and quickly removes any kind of suspense it's trying to build. While the pacing is slightly strange, the lore and demon itself are the strongest parts of the storyline. Visually, the demon looks incredible and for a low-budget independent movie, it makes for one of the most terrifying horror characters. To the visual effects, to the sound effects - it's very Jeepers Creepers meets The Grudge, which makes for waves of nostalgia throughout. As for the lore and history behind the demon, it feels very believable (well, as believable as a "perverted demon" can be).

While the demon does take up a large amount of screen time, the most terrifying part of this film is the anticipation of his presence in scenes. He's almost always lurking somewhere, and as a viewer it makes for a wickedly fun activity to participate in throughout the duration of the film. However, the demon remains the most exciting aspect and the film runs out of steam far too quickly. In the second half of the film the story fails to keep its traction and it's easy to lose interest, which is a shame.

While Demon Behind the Glass does have its flaws, there are glimpses of redeeming moments that leave me excited for director Joshua Recene's next movie. Original lore, story and incredible effects make for an enjoyable film that could have become a cult classic.
